मॆय् ताऩ् अरुम्पि, वितिर्वितिर्त्तु, उऩ् विरै आर् कऴऱ्‌कु, ऎऩ् कै ताऩ् तलै वैत्तु, कण्णीर् ततुम्पि, वॆतुम्पि, उळ्ळम् पॊय् ताऩ् तविर्न्तु, उऩ्ऩै, पोऱ्‌ऱि, चय, चय, पोऱ्‌ऱि!' ऎऩ्ऩुम् कै ताऩ् नॆकिऴविटेऩ्; उटैयाय्! ऎऩ्ऩैक् कण्टुकॊळ्ळे.	[ 1 ]
When I worship you my body trembles. I shiver, putting my hands on my head, and worship your fragrant feet. My eyes fill with tears and my heart melts. I praise you truly and I say, “Jeya jeya potri!” Be compassionate to me and do not leave me, Take care of me. [5]
कॊळ्ळेऩ् पुरन्तरऩ्, माल्, अयऩ् वाऴ्वु; कुटि कॆटिऩुम्, नळ्ळेऩ् निऩतु अटियारॊटु अल्लाल्; नरकम् पुकिऩुम्, ऎळ्ळेऩ् तिरु अरुळाले इरुक्कप् पॆऱिऩ्; इऱैवा! उळ्ळेऩ् पिऱ तॆय्वम्, उऩ्ऩै अल्लातु; ऎङ्कळ् उत्तमऩे!	[ 2 ]
I do not want the lives of Indra, Brahma or Thirumal. Even if my family is destroyed, I will not lose the love that I have for you devotees. Even if I have to go to hell I will not mock your devotees. I want to have your grace— O lord, I will not think of any other god except you, O best one. [6]
उत्तमऩ्, अत्तऩ्, उटैयाऩ्, अटिये निऩैन्तु उरुकि, मत्त मऩत्तॊटु, माल् इवऩ्' ऎऩ्ऩ, मऩ निऩैविल् ऒत्तऩ ऒत्तऩ चॊल्लिट, ऊर् ऊर् तिरिन्तु, ऎवरुम् तम् तम् मऩत्तऩ पेच, ऎञ्ञाऩ्ऱु कॊल् चावतुवे?	[ 3 ]
If I think and melt for the lord, the finest one, and worship his feet, he will make me his. People think and say he is Thirumal or whoever they wish their god to be. They wander everywhere thinking that this one or that one is god and they say whatever they want. When I will leave this world and come to you? [7]
चाव, मुऩ् नाळ्, तक्कऩ् वेळ्वित् तकर् तिऩ्ऱु, नञ्चम् अञ्चि, आव! ऎन्ताय्!' ऎऩ्ऱु, अविता इटुम् नम्मवर् अवरे, मूवर् ऎऩ्ऱे ऎम्पिराऩॊटुम् ऎण्णि, विण् आण्टु, मण्मेल् तेवर् ऎऩ्ऱे इऱुमान्तु, ऎऩ्ऩ पावम् तिरितवरे!	[ 4 ]
The gods who ate the sacrificial food from Daksha’s sacrifice were frightened and ran to you and asked you to save them. In their pride, all thought Thirumal, Brahma and Rudra are the gods of the earth and heaven and they wandered about everywhere. What a pity! [8]
तवमे पुरिन्तिलऩ्; तण् मलर् इट्टु, मुट्टातु इऱैञ्चेऩ्; अवमे पिऱन्त अरु विऩैयेऩ्, उऩक्कु अऩ्पर् उळ् आम् चिवमे पॆऱुम् तिरु ऎय्तिऱ्‌ऱिलेऩ्; निऩ् तिरुवटिक्कु आम् पवमे अरुळु कण्टाय् अटियेऱ्‌कु; ऎम् परम्परऩे!	[ 5 ]
I have not done any tapas. I did not sprinkle cool flowers on your feet and worship you. I have done many wrong things and collected bad karma. O Shiva, I did not do all the good things that your devotees have done. I want to reach your feet. Give me your grace. I am your slave, you are the highest god. [9]

परन्तु पल् आय् मलर् इट्टु, मुट्टातु, अटिये इऱैञ्चि, इरन्त ऎल्लाम् ऎमक्के पॆऱलाम्' ऎऩ्ऩुम्, अऩ्पर् उळ्ळम् करन्तु निल्लाक् कळ्वऩे! निऩ् तऩ् वार् कऴऱ्‌कु अऩ्पु, ऎऩक्कुम् निरन्तरमाय् अरुळाय् निऩ्ऩै एत्त मुऴुवतुमे.	[ 6 ]
O lord, you are a thief, If your devotees sprinkle flowers on your feet and ask for all they want, you will not hide from their loving hearts and you will give whatever they want. Give me your grace and that same love so that I may worship your ornamented feet and praise you always. [10]
मुऴुवतुम् कण्टवऩैप् पटैत्ताऩ्, मुटि चाय्त्तु, मुऩ्नाळ्, चॆऴु मलर् कॊण्टु ऎङ्कुम् तेट, अप्पालऩ्; इप्पाल्, ऎम्पिराऩ् कऴुतॊटु काट्टिटै नाटकम् आटि, कति इलियाय्, उऴुवैयिऩ् तोल् उटुत्तु, उऩ्मत्तम् मेल्कॊण्टु, उऴितरुमे.	[ 7 ]
He created Brahma who created the whole world. When he took a form spanning earth and sky, Thirumal who had sprinkled flowers before on his feet went under the earth as a boar and searched for his feet, but the lord who did not show himself to Thirumal. He dances in the burning ground, acting as if he does not have anyone, wearing a tiger skin and unmatham flowers and wandering everywhere. [11]
उऴितरु कालुम्, कऩलुम्, पुऩलॊटु, मण्णुम्, विण्णुम्, इऴितरु कालम्, ऎक् कालम् वरुवतु? वन्ततऩ् पिऩ्, उऴितरु काल्, अत्त! उऩ् अटियेऩ् चॆय्त वल् विऩैयैक् कऴितरु कालमुम् आय्, अवै कात्तु, ऎम्मैक् काप्पवऩे!	[ 8 ]
O lord, when will the time come when wind, fire, water, the earth and the sky are destroyed and you dance? Will you protect me then and remove all my bad karma? Will you protect me so I will not be born and collect karma again? [12]
पवऩ्, ऎम्पिराऩ्, पऩि मा मतिक् कण्णि, विण्णோर् पॆरुमाऩ्, चिवऩ्, ऎम्पिराऩ्, ऎऩ्ऩै आण्टुकॊण्टाऩ्, ऎऩ् चिऱुमै कण्टुम्; अवऩ् ऎम्पिराऩ् ऎऩ्ऩ, नाऩ् अटियेऩ् ऎऩ्ऩ, इप् परिचे पुवऩ्, ऎम्पिराऩ्! तॆरियुम् परिचु आवतु इयम्पुकवे.	[ 9 ]
My lord in whose hair the cool moon floats created the world. He is the god of the gods in the sky. He is Shiva, my lord. Even though I have done many mean things, he made me his. He is my lord and I am just his slave— how could he give me the goodness of being his devotee? O world, tell me. [13]
पुकवे तकेऩ् उऩक्कु अऩ्परुळ्, याऩ्; ऎऩ् पॊल्ला मणिये! तकवे, ऎऩै उऩक्कु आट्कॊण्ट तऩ्मै? ऎप् पुऩ्मैयरै मिकवे उयर्त्ति, विण्णோरैप् पणित्ति; अण्णा! अमुते! नकवे तकुम् ऎम्पिराऩ्! ऎऩ्ऩै नी चॆय्त नाटकमे.	[ 10 ]
O faultless jewel-like lord, I am not suitable to be one of your devotees, but you made me one. You give your grace to low people like me and make the gods in the sky debased. I can only laugh when I see your mischief. [14]
